Description

This image presents a detailed, although highly cropped, view of the galaxy NGC 2146, juxtaposed with an insert showcasing the view captured by the Hubble Space Telescope (Credit: ESA/Hubble & NASA, under a Creative Commons Attribution License). The faint outlined rectangle in my image delineates the area covered by the Hubble's view, offering a interesting comparison between ground-based and space-based astronomical images.

NGC 2146 is a notable galaxy due to its peculiar structure and intense star-forming activity, often attributed to a past galactic collision or interaction and associated star streams. The comparison here underscores the capabilities and limitations of amateur astronomical equipment when contrasted with the advanced technology used in space telescopes. This image likely represents the near limit of what can be achieved with my current telescope setup from my observation point at the SRO. Of course with more data, I might be wrong about that.
